With parks to the west and south, a river to the north, and the lakefront to the east, Cascade residents enjoy their own slice of nature in the heart of the city. While the waterfronts make great backdrops for recreation of all kinds, nearby Lakeshore East Park is where the neighborhood comes together to build connections. Let’s learn a bit about how this park helps residents of Cascade’s elegant collection of Lakeshore East apartments become part of the community.
Last month, Lakeshore East residents put together an Easter Egg Hunt for their young neighbors. Adults from the Lakeshore East Volunteer Group gathered early in the morning to stash candy-filled eggs all around the small park, and by 9:30 am, the little ones were bursting with excitement. Despite the chill, the hunt went off without a hitch, and rumor has it that the event will become an annual celebration for locals!
Don’t fret if you missed the Egg Hunt because there’s always something going on at Lakeshore East Park! The next big event will take place on June 4th, when Magellan Rewards hosts the annual Lakeshore East Festival in the Park. This health- and wellness-focused celebration will combine group fitness classes such as yoga, Pilates, and full-body workouts with plenty of food from local vendors and a live music competition to create a festive atmosphere for all ages. Cascade residents are encouraged to mingle with their neighbors while working up a sweat and enjoying some neighborhood cuisine, all mere steps from their own front door.
While the intimate green space of Lakeshore East Park gives Cascade residents their very own slice of Chicago parkland, the larger, more tourist-friendly Millennium and Maggie Daley Parks to the south open up even greater opportunities for recreation and entertainment this summer. Between a full season of big-name performances at nearby Jay Pritzker Pavilion, a slew of fantastic exhibits at the Art Institute of Chicago, and the gateway to the Great Lakes at DuSable Harbor, living at Cascade puts you at the heart of everything Chicago.
But just reading about Cascade doesn’t do it justice. You need to walk through the beautiful Lakeshore East Park, up the building’s gleaming steps, and into the sun-lit lobby to truly feel what it means to live at Cascade.
