The secret to creating new public parks out of thin air? Foam
The new Cascade Park that complements the collection of Lakeshore East apartments at the eponymous tower was created using an innovative construction technique that leverages lightweight foam to defy gravity. Fast Company reported on the new material, dubbed “geofoam,” which allows architects to design geographic features directly on top of usable urban landscapes. Residents of the luxury homes at Cascade can walk out their front door into the new park, which features a sweeping layout with lush greenery and rolling lawns perfect for spreading out a picnic basket or taking a seat with a good book, all while sitting mere feet above the active service roads hidden below.
